Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702d – Examinations. Fees
(a) A resident individual applying for an insurance producer license shall pass a written examination unless exempt under section 38a-702h. The examination shall test the knowledge of the individual concerning the lines of authority for which application is made, the duties and responsibilities of an insurance producer and the insurance laws and regulations of this state, except that no additional course or examination shall be required for the line of variable life and variable annuity products. Examinations required by this section shall be developed and conducted under rules prescribed by the commissioner, or regulations which the commissioner may adopt pursuant to section 38a-702p.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702d
- Annuity: A periodic (usually annual) payment of a fixed sum of money for either the life of the recipient or for a fixed number of years. A series of payments under a contract from an insurance company, a trust company, or an individual. Annuity payments are made at regular intervals over a period of more than one full year.
- another: may extend and be applied to communities, companies, corporations, public or private, limited liability companies, societies and associations. See Connecticut General Statutes 1-1
- Commissioner: means the Insurance Commissioner. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702a
- Insurance: means any of the lines of authority contained in this title. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702a
- License: means a document issued by the commissioner authorizing a person to act as an insurance producer for the lines of authority specified in the document. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702a
- producer: means a person required to be licensed under the laws of this state to sell, solicit or negotiate insurance. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-702a
- State: means any state, district, or territory of the United States. See Connecticut General Statutes 38a-1
(b) The commissioner may make arrangements, including, but not limited to, contracting with an outside testing service, for administering examinations and collecting the nonrefundable fee set forth in section 38a-11.
(c) Each individual applying for an examination shall remit a nonrefundable fee as set forth in section 38a-11.
(d) An individual who fails to appear for the examination as scheduled or fails to pass the examination shall reapply for an examination and remit all required fees and forms before being scheduled for another examination.
