If either party files an affidavit with the Family Support Magistrate Division that an appeal from the foreign parentage judgment is pending in the foreign state, or will be taken, or that a stay of execution has been granted, the Family Support Magistrate Division will stay enforcement of the foreign parentage judgment until the appeal is concluded, the time for appeal expires or the stay of execution expires or is vacated.
Terms Used In Connecticut General Statutes 46b-580
- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Appeal: A request made after a trial, asking another court (usually the court of appeals) to decide whether the trial was conducted properly. To make such a request is "to appeal" or "to take an appeal." One who appeals is called the appellant.
