(1) The department shall establish a program to award matching grants to any city, village, or town with a population density of not less than 125 persons per square mile for up to 50 percent of the costs for projects to plan wildlife abatement measures or to engage in wildlife control efforts or both.
(2) A grant awarded under this section may not exceed $5,000.
(3) The department shall promulgate rules establishing criteria for awarding grants under this section.
