Terms Used In Missouri Laws 21.390

  • Joint meeting: An occasion, often ceremonial, when the House and Senate each adopt a unanimous consent agreement
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.

When necessary, the presiding officer of the house in which they are required, or of a joint meeting, may issue commissions to take such depositions as a court at law; and the proceedings, in taking and returning depositions, shall be the same as are prescribed by law for taking depositions to be read in any court of law.
