Terms Used In Missouri Laws 87.025

  • Ex officio: Literally, by virtue of one's office.

The board shall have exclusive control and management of the fund mentioned in section 87.010, and of all money donated, paid or assessed for the relief or pensioning of disabled members of the fire department, retirement for service pensions, their widows and minor children, and shall assess each member of the fire department at least one percent but not more than ten percent of the salary of such member, to be deducted and withheld from the monthly pay of each member so assessed, and the same to be placed by the treasurer of such city, village or incorporated town, who shall be ex officio treasurer of such board, to the credit of such fund, subject to the order of such board. The percent rate shall not be changed without the affirmative vote of a majority of the entire board. The board shall make all needful rules and regulations for its government in the discharge of its duties, and shall hear and decide all applications for relief or pensions, under sections 87.010 to 87.105, and its decisions on such applications shall be final and conclusive, and not subject to review and reversal except by the board, and a record shall be kept of all the meetings and proceedings of all the board.
