Terms Used In Missouri Laws 257.130

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • Court: the circuit court wherein the petition for the organization of the district was filed and granted. See Missouri Laws 257.020
  • State: when applied to any of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the territories, and the words "United States" includes such district and territories. See Missouri Laws 1.020

Upon payment of the costs, a vote approving the establishment of the district, and qualification of the trustees, the district shall be established as a public corporation and political subdivision of the state of Missouri, shall have perpetual existence except as otherwise provided in this chapter, and may do and perform all acts herein expressly authorized and all other acts necessary and proper for the carrying out of the purposes for which the district was created and for executing the powers with which it is invested. The court shall issue an order and decree accordingly.
