There is hereby created a “Division of Credit Unions”, to be headed by a director appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. The division of credit unions with all of its powers, duties, and functions is assigned by type III transfer under the authority of the Omnibus State Reorganization Act of 1974 and executive order 06-04 to the department of commerce and insurance. All of the general provisions, definitions, and powers enumerated in section 1 of the Omnibus State Reorganization Act of 1974 and executive order 06-04 shall apply to this department and its divisions, agencies, and personnel. The salary of the director of the division of credit unions shall be set by the director of the department within the limits of the appropriations therefor. Wherever the laws, rules, or regulations of this state make reference to the “division of credit unions of the department of economic development” or to the “division of credit unions”, such references shall be deemed to refer to the division of credit unions of the department of commerce and insurance.
