Section 20. A county treasurer may prosecute suits upon bonds, notes and other securities given to or held by the county or its treasurer. He may also prosecute for injuries to the land, buildings or other property of his county, subject to section thirty-six of chapter forty-one. The treasurer shall be joined as a party in all legal proceedings brought against the county.
