(1) A person filing a declaration of candidacy for the office of county or district attorney shall be:

- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- United States: includes each state, district, and territory of the United States of America. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(1)(a) a United States citizen;(1)(b) an attorney licensed to practice law in the state;(1)(c) an active member of the Utah State Bar in good standing;(1)(d) except as provided in Subsection (2), a registered voter in the county or prosecution district in which the attorney is elected to office; and(1)(e) except as provided in Subsection (2), as of the date of election, a resident for at least one year of the county or prosecution district in which the person seeks office.
(2) A person appointed to the office of county or district attorney in accordance with Section 20A-1-509.2 shall be:

(2)(b) an attorney licensed to practice law in the state; and
(2)(c) an active member of the Utah State Bar in good standing.
