(1) Except as otherwise provided in Chapter 16, Uniform Military and Overseas Voters Act, an individual who fails to timely submit a correctly completed voter registration form may not vote in the election.

Terms Used In Utah Code 20A-2-102.5

  • Ballot: means the storage medium, including a paper, mechanical, or electronic storage medium, that records an individual voter's vote. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
  • Election: means a regular general election, a municipal general election, a statewide special election, a local special election, a regular primary election, a municipal primary election, and a special district election. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
  • Provisional ballot: means a ballot voted provisionally by a person:
         (55)(a) whose name is not listed on the official register at the polling place;
         (55)(b) whose legal right to vote is challenged as provided in this title; or
         (55)(c) whose identity was not sufficiently established by a poll worker. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
  • Registration form: means a form by which an individual may register to vote under this title. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
  • Voter: means an individual who:
         (79)(a) meets the requirements for voting in an election;
         (79)(b) meets the requirements of election registration;
         (79)(c) is registered to vote; and
         (79)(d) is listed in the official register book. See Utah Code 20A-1-102
  • Voter registration deadline: means the registration deadline provided in Section Utah Code 20A-1-102
(2) The voter registration deadline is as follows:

     (2)(a) the voter registration must be received by the county clerk, the municipal clerk, or the lieutenant governor no later than 5 p.m. 11 calendar days before the date of the election, if the individual registers to vote:

          (2)(a)(i) at the office of the county clerk, in accordance with Section 20A-2-201;
          (2)(a)(ii) by mail, in accordance with Section 20A-2-202;
          (2)(a)(iii) via an application for a driver license, in accordance with Section 20A-2-204;
          (2)(a)(iv) via a public assistance agency or a discretionary voter registration agency, in accordance with Section 20A-2-205; or
          (2)(a)(v) via electronic registration, in accordance with Section 20A-2-206;
     (2)(b) before the polls close on the last day of early voting, described in Section 20A-3a-601, if the individual registers by casting a provisional ballot at an early voting location in accordance with Section 20A-2-207; or
     (2)(c) before polls close on the date of the election, if the individual registers to vote on the date of the election by casting a provisional ballot, in accordance with Section 20A-2-207.
