(1) As used in this section:
Terms Used In Utah Code 26B-1-327
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Father: means a parent who is of the male sex. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Mother: means a parent who is of the female sex. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Person: means :(24)(a) an individual;(24)(b) an association;(24)(c) an institution;(24)(d) a corporation;(24)(e) a company;(24)(f) a trust;(24)(g) a limited liability company;(24)(h) a partnership;(24)(i) a political subdivision;(24)(j) a government office, department, division, bureau, or other body of government; and(24)(k) any other organization or entity. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Property: includes both real and personal property. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(1)(a)(1)(a)(i) “Cohabitant” means an individual who lives with another individual.(1)(a)(ii) “Cohabitant” does not include a relative.(1)(b) “Relative” means father, mother, husband, wife, son, daughter, sister, brother, grandfather, grandmother, uncle, aunt, nephew, niece, grandson, granddaughter, first cousin, mother-in-law, father-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, son-in-law, or daughter-in-law.
(2) Upon appropriation, the Office of Substance Use and Mental Health shall award grants from the appropriation to a person who provides, for no or minimal cost:
(2)(a) clean-up of property affected or damaged by an individual’s suicide, as reimbursement for the costs incurred for the clean-up; and
(2)(b) bereavement services to a relative, legal guardian, or cohabitant of an individual who dies by suicide.
