Terms Used In Utah Code 26B-5-311
- Habeas corpus: A writ that is usually used to bring a prisoner before the court to determine the legality of his imprisonment. It may also be used to bring a person in custody before the court to give testimony, or to be prosecuted.
Any individual detained pursuant to this part is entitled to the writ of habeas corpus upon proper petition by themselves or a friend, to the court in the county in which the individual is detained.
