Terms Used In Utah Code 31A-9-102
- Member: means a person having membership rights in an insurance corporation. See Utah Code 31A-1-301
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(1)(a) This chapter applies to all fraternals organized under the laws of this state.
(1)(b) Except as expressly provided in this chapter and in Section 31A-14-210, this chapter does not apply to nondomestic fraternals.
(2) The purposes of this chapter include:
(2)(a) providing a complete, self-contained procedure for the formation of fraternals;
(2)(b) assuring the solidity of fraternals by providing an organizational framework to facilitate sound management, operation, and regulation;
(2)(c) strengthening internal fraternal democracy through member participation; and
(2)(d) encouraging the fulfillment of the special purposes of fraternals.
