(1) The bureau, after seeking the advice of the committee, shall establish by rule:
Terms Used In Utah Code 53-2d-305
- Bureau: means the Bureau of Emergency Medical Services created in Section
53-2d-102 . See Utah Code 53-2d-101 - Committee: means the Trauma System and Emergency Medical Services Committee created by Section
53-2d-104 . See Utah Code 53-2d-101 - State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
- Trauma: means an injury requiring immediate medical or surgical intervention. See Utah Code 53-2d-101
- Triage: means the sorting of patients in terms of disposition, destination, or priority. See Utah Code 53-2d-101
(1)(a) trauma center designation requirements; and
(1)(b) model state guidelines for triage, treatment, transportation, and transfer of trauma patients to the most appropriate health care facility.
(2) The bureau shall designate as a trauma center each hospital that:
(2)(a) voluntarily requests a trauma center designation; and
(2)(b) meets the applicable requirements established pursuant to Subsection (1).
