(1) As used in this section:
Terms Used In Utah Code 63A-17-110
- Department: means the Department of Government Operations. See Utah Code 63A-1-103
- Director: means the director of the division. See Utah Code 63A-17-102
- Division: means the Division of Human Resource Management, created in Section
63A-17-105 . See Utah Code 63A-17-102 - Employee: means any individual in a paid status covered by the career service or classified service provisions of this chapter. See Utah Code 63A-17-102
- State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes a state, district, or territory of the United States. See Utah Code 68-3-12.5
(1)(a) “DNR peace officer” means an employee of the Department of Natural Resources who is designated as a peace officer by law.
(1)(b) “Wildland firefighter” means an employee of the Division of Forestry, Fire, and State Lands who is:
(1)(b)(i) trained in firefighter techniques; and
(1)(b)(ii) assigned to a position of hazardous duty.
(2) The director shall:
(2)(a) establish a specialized state pay plan for DNR peace officers and wildland firefighters that:
(2)(a)(i) meets the requirements of Section 63A-17-307;
(2)(a)(ii) distinguishes the salary range for each DNR peace officer and wildland firefighter classification;
(2)(a)(iii) includes for each DNR peace officer and wildland firefighter classification:
(2)(a)(iii)(A) the minimum qualifications; and
(2)(a)(iii)(B) any training requirements; and
(2)(a)(iv) provides standards for:
(2)(a)(iv)(A) performance evaluation; and
(2)(a)(iv)(B) promotion; and
(2)(b) include, in the plan described in Subsection 63A-17-307(5), recommendations on funding and salary increases for DNR peace officers and wildland firefighters.
