Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws > Chapter 31-47.4 - Uninsured Motorist Identification Database Procedure

  • Account: means the uninsured motorist identification restricted account created in Rhode Island General Laws 31-47.4-1
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • Database: means the uninsured motorist identification database created in Rhode Island General Laws 31-47.4-1
  • Designated agent: means the third party the division of motor vehicles contracts with under Rhode Island General Laws 31-47.4-1
  • Division: means the division of motor vehicles. See Rhode Island General Laws 31-47.4-1
  • Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
  • Guardian: A person legally empowered and charged with the duty of taking care of and managing the property of another person who because of age, intellect, or health, is incapable of managing his (her) own affairs.
  • person: may be construed to extend to and include co-partnerships and bodies corporate and politic. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-6
  • Power of attorney: A written instrument which authorizes one person to act as another's agent or attorney. The power of attorney may be for a definite, specific act, or it may be general in nature. The terms of the written power of attorney may specify when it will expire.
