(a) Any person, partnership, corporation, association, or his or her or its agents or representatives violating any of the provisions of this chapter is guilty of a misdemeanor and upon conviction shall be punished by imprisonment not exceeding six (6) months, or by a fine not exceeding five hundred dollars ($500), or both.
Terms Used In Rhode Island General Laws 5-33.1-10
- Conviction: A judgement of guilt against a criminal defendant.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Partnership: A voluntary contract between two or more persons to pool some or all of their assets into a business, with the agreement that there will be a proportional sharing of profits and losses.
- person: may be construed to extend to and include co-partnerships and bodies corporate and politic. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-6
(b) Any complaints for violations or appeals follow the same form and procedure as in chapter 33.2 of this title.
