(a) Nothing in this chapter shall be construed to interfere with the rights to confrontation and compulsory process secured to a defendant in a criminal prosecution pursuant to the state and federal constitutions.

- Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
(b) This chapter shall not be construed to interfere with any federal laws or regulations that provide more extensive protection than provided in this chapter for the confidentiality of healthcare information.
