(a) When a person is required to submit to an independent medical examination pursuant to § 27-9.2-1, the examination will be conducted by an impartial, competent physician approved by the medical advisory board of the workers’ compensation court, as defined in § 28-30-22.

- person: may be construed to extend to and include co-partnerships and bodies corporate and politic. See Rhode Island General Laws 43-3-6
- Physician: as used in this chapter means medical doctor, surgeon, dentist, chiropractor, osteopath, podiatrist and optometrist. See Rhode Island General Laws 27-9.2-4
(b) The expense of the examination shall be paid by the automobile insurance company making the request for the examination.
