(a) Notwithstanding any other provisions of law, each domestic nonprofit medical service corporation shall be charged an assessment to partially support the activities of the division of insurance in the department of business regulations.

- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
(b) The minimum assessment charged shall be one thousand dollars ($1,000).
