- advisory committee: refers to the 211 advisory committee established by section 9 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 12-13-16-3
- Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
- Appropriation: The provision of funds, through an annual appropriations act or a permanent law, for federal agencies to make payments out of the Treasury for specified purposes. The formal federal spending process consists of two sequential steps: authorization
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- automated teller machine: means an electronic hardware device owned or operated by or on behalf of a financial institution or retailer that is capable of dispensing currency and responding to balance inquiries through the use of a magnetic stripe card issued by or on behalf of the division for distribution of assistance through an EBT system as described in this chapter. - commission: refers to the electronic benefits transfer commission established by this chapter. See Indiana Code 12-13-14-1
- council: refers to the division of family resources advisory council established by this chapter. See Indiana Code 12-13-4-1
- Damages: Money paid by defendants to successful plaintiffs in civil cases to compensate the plaintiffs for their injuries.
- Department: refers to the United States Department of Health and Human Services. See Indiana Code 12-13-14-1
- EBT program: means an electronic benefits transfer program. See Indiana Code 12-13-14-1
- Electronic funds transfer: The transfer of money between accounts by consumer electronic systems-such as automated teller machines (ATMs) and electronic payment of bills-rather than by check or cash. (Wire transfers, checks, drafts, and paper instruments do not fall into this category.) Source: OCC
- financial institution: means a bank, trust company, savings institution, credit union, or any other organization:

- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30.
