- advance deposit wagering: means a system of pari-mutuel wagering in which wagers of an account holder are debited and payouts are credited to an account established by the account holder, regardless of whether the wagers are made in person, by telephone, or through communication by other electronic means. See Indiana Code 4-31-7.5-3
- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- audiologist: means an individual who practices audiology and who presents himself to the public by any title or description of services incorporating the words audiologist, hearing clinician, hearing therapist, hearing specialist, audiometrist, vestibular specialist, or any similar title or description of service. See Indiana Code 25-35.6-1-2
- audiology: means the application of nonmedical and nonsurgical principles, methods, and procedures of prevention, evaluation, habilitation, rehabilitation, instruction, and research of disorders of hearing, auditory function, and vestibular function. See Indiana Code 25-35.6-1-2
- board: means the speech-language pathology and audiology board established by this article. See Indiana Code 25-35.6-1-2
- clinical fellowship: means a supervised professional experience. See Indiana Code 25-35.6-1-2
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- licensed SPMO: means a secondary pari-mutuel organization licensed under this chapter. See Indiana Code 4-31-7.5-6
- Litigation: A case, controversy, or lawsuit. Participants (plaintiffs and defendants) in lawsuits are called litigants.
- minor: means a person less than eighteen (18) years of age. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- person: means any individual, organization, or corporate body, except that only an individual may be licensed under this article. See Indiana Code 25-35.6-1-2
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.
- Public law: A public bill or joint resolution that has passed both chambers and been enacted into law. Public laws have general applicability nationwide.
- Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
- Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
- secondary pari-mutuel organization: means an entity that offers advance deposit wagering. See Indiana Code 4-31-7.5-7
- speech-language pathologist: means an individual who practices speech-language pathology and who presents himself to the public by any title or description of services incorporating the words speech pathologist, speech-language pathologist, speech therapist, speech-language specialist, teacher of communication disorders, speech correctionist, speech clinician, language pathologist, language therapist, logopedist, communicologist, voice therapist, voice pathologist, or any similar title or description of service. - speech-language pathology: means the application of nonmedical and nonsurgical principles, methods, and procedures for the following:

- Testimony: Evidence presented orally by witnesses during trials or before grand juries.
- Venue: The geographical location in which a case is tried.
