  • Caucus: From the Algonquian Indian language, a caucus meant "to meet together." An informal organization of members of the legislature that exists to discuss issues of mutual concern and possibly to perform legislative research and policy planning for its members. There are regional, political or ideological, ethnic, and economic-based caucuses.
  • Clerk: means the clerk of the court or a person authorized to perform the clerk's duties. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
  • direct contact: means physical contact between the public and a specified animal. See Indiana Code 14-22-26.5-2
  • Grace period: The number of days you'll have to pay your bill for purchases in full without triggering a finance charge. Source: Federal Reserve
  • in writing: include printing, lithographing, or other mode of representing words and letters. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • professional production crew: means a cast or crew member of a production team and includes a professional photographer, videographer, or cinematographer. See Indiana Code 14-22-26.5-2.5
  • proximity: means a distance created by a visual or physical barrier, including a barrier fence, safety line, or other means to signify a restricted area, that is designed to prevent a member of the public from touching a primary, permeable barrier that contains a specified animal. See Indiana Code 14-22-26.5-3
  • public: refers to a person or an individual who is not listed or otherwise described in section 1 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 14-22-26.5-3.5
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
  • specified animal: means a live animal that is any of the following:

  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • taxidermist: means a person who receives wild animals or parts of wild animals for the purpose of performing taxidermy service for any other person. See Indiana Code 14-22-21-1
  • trained: means having participated in specific instruction with a specified animal. See Indiana Code 14-22-26.5-5
  • Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
  • United States: includes the District of Columbia and the commonwealths, possessions, states in free association with the United States, and the territories. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
