Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 12 > Article 8 > Chapter 2.5 - Family and Social Services Bodies

  • body: refers to an entity described in section 3 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 12-8-2.5-1
  • member: refers to a member of a body. See Indiana Code 12-8-2.5-2
  • Presiding officer: A majority-party Senator who presides over the Senate and is charged with maintaining order and decorum, recognizing Members to speak, and interpreting the Senate's rules, practices and precedents.
  • Quorum: The number of legislators that must be present to do business.
  • Statute: A law passed by a legislature.
  • Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
