Terms Used In Indiana Code > Title 20 > Article 23 > Chapter 15 - Election of Governing Body Members in South Bend

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • Clerk: means the clerk of the court or a person authorized to perform the clerk's duties. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • county: means the county in which the school corporation is located. See Indiana Code 20-23-15-1
  • Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
  • Remainder: An interest in property that takes effect in the future at a specified time or after the occurrence of some event, such as the death of a life tenant.
