- Department: means the state police department established under IC 10-11-2-4. See Indiana Code 25-30-2-1
- Evidence: Information presented in testimony or in documents that is used to persuade the fact finder (judge or jury) to decide the case for one side or the other.
- Polygraph instrument: means a device that permanently and simultaneously records, at a minimum, an individual's cardiovascular and respiratory patterns and galvanic skin responses in order to determine truthfulness. See Indiana Code 25-30-2-1
