- council: refers to the public defender council of Indiana established by section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 33-40-4-1
- Public defender: Represent defendants who can't afford an attorney in criminal matters.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
