- Attorney: includes a counselor or other person authorized to appear and represent a party in an action or special proceeding. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- before the election: refers to a general, municipal, or special election. See Indiana Code 3-8-1-1.7
Sec. 19. A candidate for the office of prosecuting attorney must be admitted to the practice of law in the state before the election, as provided in Article 7, § 16 of the Constitution of the State of Indiana.
