Terms Used In Indiana Code 5-8-1-25

  • Answer: The formal written statement by a defendant responding to a civil complaint and setting forth the grounds for defense.
  • Defendant: In a civil suit, the person complained against; in a criminal case, the person accused of the crime.
   Sec. 25. The defendant may answer the accusation either by objecting to the sufficiency of the accusation or of any article of the accusation or by denying the truth of the same.
