Terms Used In Indiana Code 5-10.1-1-7
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- Political subdivision: as used in this article means a county, city, town, township, political body corporate, political entity, local housing authority, public school corporation, public library, public utility of a county, city, town, or township whether the public utility is operated by the city or town or under the terms of a trusteeship for the benefit of the city or town, and a department of, or associated with, a county, city, town, or township, which department receives revenue independently of, or in addition to, funds obtained through taxation. - State agency: as used in this article means the Indiana public retirement system. See Indiana Code 5-10.1-1-8

Indiana Code 5-10-1.1-7. Participation by political subdivisions
Terms Used In Indiana Code 5-10-1.1-7
(1) designate one (1) of its agencies or departments to establish and administer such plans and choose such funding as deemed appropriate by the agency or department, which may include more than one (1) funding product;
(2) extend the state employees’ deferred compensation plan to employees of the political subdivision, subject to the terms and conditions of the state employees’ deferred compensation plan as it is established from time to time; or
(3) offer both a plan described in subdivision (1) and the plan described in subdivision (2).
(c) This section does not limit the power or authority of any political subdivision to establish and administer other plans deemed appropriate by the governing bodies of such subdivisions, including plans established under section 1(2) of this chapter.
