Sec. 4. (a) The department shall use not more than fifty percent (50%) of the money deposited in the
fund during a state
fiscal year to award grants to county, city, and town law enforcement agencies that agree to use the money to investigate Internet crimes against children in accordance with
United States Department of Justice Internet Crimes Against Children Operational and Investigative Standards.

Terms Used In Indiana Code 10-11-10-4
- Fiscal year: The fiscal year is the accounting period for the government. For the federal government, this begins on October 1 and ends on September 30. The fiscal year is designated by the calendar year in which it ends; for example, fiscal year 2006 begins on October 1, 2005 and ends on September 30, 2006.
- fund: refers to the Internet crimes against children fund established by section 2 of this chapter. See Indiana Code 10-11-10-1
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
- Population: has the meaning set forth in Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the commonwealths, possessions, states in free association with the United States, and the territories. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(b) The department shall establish:
(1) the amounts of grants awarded under this section; and
(2) criteria used to award grants under this section, which may include any of the following:
(A) The geographic location and population of the jurisdiction of a law enforcement agency.
(B) The number of reports of Internet crimes against children within the jurisdiction of a law enforcement agency.
(C) The past and current participation of a law enforcement agency in the department’s Internet crimes against children task force.
(c) A county, city, or town law enforcement agency that wishes to receive a grant from the fund under this section must file a written application for the grant:
(1) on a form; and
(2) in the manner;
prescribed by the department.
