Sec. 2. (a) As used in section 5 of this chapter, “member” refers to the following:
(2) A member of a reserve component.
(1) A member of the Indiana national guard.

- qualified member: refers to a member of the Indiana National Guard or a reserve component of the armed forces of the United States who is:

- United States: includes the District of Columbia and the commonwealths, possessions, states in free association with the United States, and the territories. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(3) A member of the retired personnel of the naval, air, or ground forces of the United States.
(b) The term includes a qualified member.
