Sec. 3. The governing board of a hospital may do the following for a hospital police department established by the governing board under section 2 of this chapter:
(2) Prescribe the duties and direct the conduct of hospital police officers.
(1) Appoint hospital police officers.

- hospital: includes a health system. See Indiana Code 16-18-4-1.5
- Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
(3) Prescribe distinctive uniforms.
(4) Provide emergency vehicles.
(5) For a hospital police department of a nonprofit hospital, prescribe the jurisdiction for the nonprofit hospital police department.
