Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-19-9-6

  • Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
  • virtual education program: means a program provided by a school corporation in which more than fifty percent (50%) of instruction, other than instruction for recovery credit courses, to students participating in the program is provided in an interactive learning environment created through technology in which the student is separated from a teacher by time or space, or both. See Indiana Code 20-19-9-1
   Sec. 6. Except as provided under IC 20-26-19, a school corporation that operates a virtual education program may not enroll a student unless the student is an Indiana resident. If the school corporation that operates a virtual education program is unable to verify that a student who attends the school corporation’s virtual education program is an Indiana resident, the school corporation must pay back to the department the state tuition support distribution in an amount determined by the department that the school corporation received for that student.
