Sec. 7. (a) Except as provided in subsection (b), the department shall distribute a grant under this chapter to a qualifying school
corporation not later than September 1. The grant must be for the number of
full-time equivalent students enrolled in and attending an
alternative education program from July 1 through June 30 of the immediately preceding school
year and reported to the department under
IC 20-30-8-15.

Terms Used In Indiana Code 20-20-33-7
- alternative education program: means an alternative education program (as defined in IC 20-30-8-1). See Indiana Code 20-20-33-1
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- full-time equivalent students: means the number of students determined under IC 20-30-8-16. See Indiana Code 20-20-33-2
- Year: means a calendar year, unless otherwise expressed. See Indiana Code 1-1-4-5
(b) The department may authorize additional distributions for approved programs if the total amount of the distributions to a school corporation during a school year under this subsection does not exceed a maximum amount of seven hundred fifty dollars ($750) per full-time equivalent student reported under IC 20-30-8-15.
