Terms Used In Indiana Code 27-1-2.3-4 v2
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- health plan: means any of the following:

- Insurance: means a contract of insurance or an agreement by which one (1) party, for a consideration, promises to pay money or its equivalent or to do an act valuable to the insured upon the destruction, loss or injury of something in which the other party has a pecuniary interest, or in consideration of a price paid, adequate to the risk, becomes security to the other against loss by certain specified risks; to grant indemnity or security against loss for a consideration. Sec. 4. (a) As used in this chapter, “health plan” means either of the following:
(1) A policy of accident and sickness insurance as defined in IC 27-8-5-1, but not including any insurance, plan, or policy set forth in IC 27-8-5-2.5(a).
(2) An individual contract (as defined in IC 27-13-1-21) or a group contract (as defined in IC 27-13-1-16) with a health maintenance organization that provides coverage for basic health care services (as defined in IC 27-13-1-4).
(b) The term does not include the state employee health plan.
