Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1534
- Board: means the Louisiana Board of Veterinary Medicine. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1513
- School of veterinary medicine: means any veterinary college or division of a university or college that offers the degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or its equivalent and that conforms to the standards required for accreditation by the American Veterinary Medical Association and approved by the board. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1513
- Veterinary medicine: includes veterinary surgery, obstetrics, dentistry, and all other branches or specialties of veterinary medicine. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:1513
In the event the board denies a license to an applicant due to reasons other than age, citizenship, failure to pass the state licensing examination, or absence of a doctor of veterinary medicine degree from an accredited school of veterinary medicine, the board may prescribe a method by which the applicant is given an opportunity to successfully remedy the deficiency unless otherwise prohibited by law or in conflict with any other statutes or regulations.
