Terms Used In Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:2105
- Board: means the Louisiana State Board of Examiners for Sanitarians. See Louisiana Revised Statutes 37:2101
- Sanitarian: means a person who possesses the necessary qualifications as recognized in this Chapter to carry out inspectional, educational, and investigational duties in the field of environmental sanitation, or who serves as a consultant, supervisor, or administrator of programs and personnel involving such duties. A. The board shall examine all applicants for licenses to practice as sanitarians in the state of Louisiana and is empowered to issue sanitarian licenses to applicants who are qualified and who successfully pass the board’s examination; and to suspend or revoke for due cause any license which it has issued, and to reinstate or renew any license which has been suspended or revoked.
B. The board may by rule establish minimum education and experience qualifications on all new applicants in order to be admitted to examinations for licensing after January 15, 1955, provided such qualifications shall not be less than those set out in this Chapter.
C.(1) The board may, by rule, establish minimum continuing education requirements for the renewal of a license, which requirements shall not exceed eight annual contact hours as approved by the board.
(2) Failure to fulfill these requirements shall cause the license to lapse and any application for renewal will be declined until the continuing education requirements have been met.
(3) Documentation in a form acceptable to the board demonstrating compliance with the continuing education requirements shall accompany the application for the renewal of the license.
