The commissioner may require a domestic mutual insurer to have and maintain a greater amount of surplus than prescribed in La. Rev. Stat. 22:111 or 112, based upon the type, volume, and nature of insurance business transacted. The commissioner is authorized to promulgate such rules and regulations as he may deem necessary to carry out the provisions of this Section.
