- Continuance: Putting off of a hearing ot trial until a later time.
- Trial: A hearing that takes place when the defendant pleads "not guilty" and witnesses are required to come to court to give evidence.
In granting the continuance, the judge shall fix the date upon which the trial or hearing shall proceed, if then practicable, except when both parties ask that no date be set.
