AIDS, acquired immunodeficiency syndrome, is a collection of symptoms caused by infection with HIV, the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). It leaves one susceptible to other infections as well as cancers. While AIDS has no cure, certain drugs can slow the progress of the disease. The current treatment for AIDS is called triple-drug therapy and has been shown to slow the spread of the HIV virus.
