Simplified Probate for Small Estates in Ohio
In general, when someone dies, the estate must go through probate which can be a complicated and lengthy process. But many states provide less complicated options for smaller estates.
Ohio law provides for simplified probate when the value of the assets of the estate less does not exceed $35,000 ($100,000 if surviving spouse is sole heir). An interested person may file an application requesting the court relieve the estate from administration and directing delivery of personal property and transfer of real estate to the persons entitled to it.
