In all cases when it is shown that a criminal defendant has been previously convicted of any felony and after such conviction has committed another felony, he must be punished as follows:

Under the Alabama Code, punishments for crimes depend on the classification. In the case of this section:Class | Prison | Fine |

Class A felony | 10 years to life | up to $60,000 |
Class B felony | 2 to 20 years | up to $30,000 |
Class C felony | 1 to 10 years | up to $15,000 |
