Terms Used In Alabama Code 40-21-2
- Affidavit: A written statement of facts confirmed by the oath of the party making it, before a notary or officer having authority to administer oaths.
- Corporation: A legal entity owned by the holders of shares of stock that have been issued, and that can own, receive, and transfer property, and carry on business in its own name.
- property: includes both real and personal property. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
- year: means a calendar year; but, whenever the word "year" is used in reference to any appropriations for the payment of money out of the treasury, it shall mean fiscal year. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
Between January 1 and March 1 in each year, every company, corporation, association, and individual embraced within the provisions of Section property; applicability of chapter” class=”unlinked-ref” datatype=”S” sessionyear=”2020″ statecd=”AL” title=”40″>40-21-1, or coming otherwise within its scope and intent, shall make out and deliver to the Department of Revenue of Alabama a statement containing the information hereinafter prescribed, which statement shall be duly verified by the affidavit of one of the officers of the company, corporation or association or by the individual in whose behalf it is made.
