- Arrest: Taking physical custody of a person by lawful authority.

- Fraud: Intentional deception resulting in injury to another.
- person: includes a corporation as well as a natural person. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
- Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.

- urban renewal plan: means a plan, as it exists from time to time, for an urban renewal project, which plan shall conform to the general plan for the municipality as a whole and shall be sufficiently complete to indicate such land acquisition, demolition and removal of structures, redevelopment, improvements, and rehabilitation as may be proposed to be carried out in the area of the urban renewal project, zoning and planning changes, if any, land uses, maximum densities, building requirements, and the plan's relationship to definite local objectives respecting appropriate land uses, improved traffic, public transportation, public utilities, recreational and community facilities, and other public improvements. - year: means a calendar year; but, whenever the word "year" is used in reference to any appropriations for the payment of money out of the treasury, it shall mean fiscal year. See Alabama Code 1-1-1
