- action: includes any matter or proceeding in a court, civil or criminal. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
- Contract: A legal written agreement that becomes binding when signed.
- person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
- Verdict: The decision of a petit jury or a judge.
All causes of action by one person against another, whether arising on contract or otherwise, except those involving defamation of character, survive to the personal representatives of the former and against the personal representatives of the latter, but this may not be construed so as to abate an action for a wrong where any party has died after the verdict or to defeat or prejudice the right of action given by Alaska Stat. § 09.15.010. The personal representatives may maintain an action thereon against the party against whom the cause of action accrued, or, after the party’s death, against the personal representatives of the party.
