(a) The Criminal Justice Information Advisory Board is established in the department. The board consists of the following members:

(1) a member of the general public appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the governor;(2) a municipal police chief appointed by and serving at the pleasure of the governor; in making this appointment, the governor shall consult with the Alaska Association of Chiefs of Police;(3) the attorney general or the attorney general’s designee;(4) the chief justice of the supreme court or the chief justice’s designee;(5) the commissioner of administration or the commissioner’s designee;(6) the commissioner of corrections or the commissioner’s designee;(7) the commissioner of family and community services or the commissioner’s designee;(8) the commissioner of public safety or the commissioner’s designee, who will serve as chair of the board; and(9) the executive director of the Alaska Judicial Council or the executive director’s designee.(b) Members of the board receive no compensation for services on the board, but are entitled to per diem and travel expenses authorized for boards under Alaska Stat. § 39.20.180.(c) The board shall meet at least once every six months.(d) The board shall advise the department and other criminal justice agencies on matters pertaining to the development and operation of the central repository described in Alaska Stat. § 12.62.110 (1) and other criminal justice information systems, including providing advice about regulations and procedures, and estimating the resources and costs of those resources, needed to carry out the provisions of this chapter.
