When a person dies and no person appears to claim the body for burial, and no provision is made for the body under Alaska Stat. Chapter 13.52, the Department of Health, upon notification, shall request a court order authorizing the body to be plainly and decently buried or cremated and the remains decently interred. A judicial officer shall issue the requested order upon the sworn testimony or statement of a representative of the Department of Health that a person has not appeared to claim the body for burial and provision is not made for the body under Alaska Stat. Chapter 13.52.
