Terms Used In Alaska Statutes 13.26.010

  • Jurisdiction: (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
(b) When both guardianship and protective proceedings as to the same person are commenced or pending in the same court, the proceedings may be consolidated.
(c) This section is subject to the requirements of Alaska Stat. Chapter 13.27 (Uniform Adult Guardianship and Protective Proceedings Jurisdiction Act).
