(1) “academic policy committee” means the group designated to supervise the academic operation of a charter school and to ensure the fulfillment of the mission of a charter school;

  • Amendment: A proposal to alter the text of a pending bill or other measure by striking out some of it, by inserting new language, or both. Before an amendment becomes part of the measure, thelegislature must agree to it.
  • attendance area: means the geographic area designated by the department to be served by a school. See Alaska Statutes 14.60.010
  • board: means the state Board of Education and Early Development. See Alaska Statutes 14.60.010
  • person: includes a corporation, company, partnership, firm, association, organization, business trust, or society, as well as a natural person. See Alaska Statutes 01.10.060
  • school board: means the school board of a borough or city school district or a regional educational attendance area. See Alaska Statutes 14.60.010
(2) “charter school” means a school established under Alaska Stat. § 14.03.250 – 14.03.290 that operates within a public school district;
(3) “local school board” means a borough or city school board or a school board of a regional educational attendance area;

(5) “teacher” means a person who serves a school district in a teaching, counseling, or administrative capacity and is required to be certificated in order to hold the position.
